Inmarsat, UK-based provider of global mobile satellite communications services provider, in collaboration with video news broadcaster, Quicklink allows broadcast of video content over Skype using its global satellite network. Quicklink's TX solution has been certified and approved for use over the Inmarsat network as part of its Inmarsat Certified Applications (CAP) programme.

Quicklink TX leverages Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) to deliver professional broadcast quality output via Skype, allowing a fully integrated hardware and software solution that can be used by broadcasters, producers, engineers and studio managers to seamlessly manage Skype video/audio for broadcast purposes.

In January this year, Inmarsat launched an 'Open Technology Strategy' at its first Inmarsat Developer Conference (IDC) to deliver Global Xpress, its high-speed mobile broadband service. The program is part of the company's CAP partner ecosystem which aims to allow third-party developers to build the next generation innovative applications utilizing Inmarsat’s satellite network for variety of industries, from aviation to shipping.

Said Nadeem Khan, Head of Enterprise Applications Enablement, Market Strategy and Development, Inmarsat
Exposing our network to a wider group of technology partners creates an environment of innovation that will lead to tailored solutions for our Enterprise sectors. Quicklink TX is a perfect example of a solution that, when combined with our network, adds significant value for our customers

Richard Rees, CEO of Quicklink
We are delighted that Quicklink TX is now an Inmarsat Certified Application. We are really excited to further strengthen our relationship with Inmarsat, and to open up more opportunities in developing new and innovative solutions together across multiple Enterprise sectors.
