RAD, the industry pioneer of Distributed NFV (D-NFV) and a member of the HP OpenNFV Partner Program, will join HP for a live demonstration of vCPE implementation for business services at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona. Combining RAD's D-NFV-enabled CPEs with HP's virtual services router (VSR) and a standalone server, the demo will show two vCPE implementation alternatives with service chaining of multiple virtualized network functions (VNFs).

According to RAD, the first implementation option features RAD's ETX-2 demarcation device, which combines the advanced Layer 2/Layer 3 demarcation functionality of a state-of-the-art network termination unit (NTU) with a powerful x86 server that acts as a built-in virtualization platform. The second option features an HP server combined with network termination using RAD's unique finger-sized MiNID miniature network interface device (NID). The ETX-2 and MiNID are part of RAD's Service Assured Access (SAA) solutions.

Ulik Broida, VP, Marketing & Business Development, RAD
For service providers, the driver for vCPEs is increased flexibility and fast service rollouts while reducing cost. By combining forces with HP, RAD will be demonstrating that its Service Assured Access solution will accomplish that objective by supporting any vCPE implementation scenario to fit diverse performance, cost and security needs.

Werner Schaefer, Vice President, Network Functions Virtualization, HP
Communications service providers are turning to virtualization of core networks and network functions to accelerate innovation and launch new services faster and with less expense. Our work with RAD on virtualized network functions service chaining shows how providers can benefit from a smooth, secure and cost-effective transition to NFV.
