Dell has unveiled a new SonicPoint AC Series of Wireless Access Points (WAP), which the company said supports the high-performance IEEE 802.11ac wireless standard to deliver almost three times the speed of the last wireless standard (802.11n) at enterprise-level performance. According to Dell, SonicPoints combine with industry-leading deep packet inspection security from Dell SonicWALL next-generation firewalls to form a comprehensive wireless network security solution for small- and mid-sized organizations.

The SonicPoint AC Series includes the SonicPoint ACe, which features dual radio functionality, six removable external antennas, dimmable LEDs and the flexibility to receive power over an AC adapter or 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE) Injector, and the SonicPoint ACi, which has dual radios, internally housed antennas, dimmable LEDs and receives power through an 802.3at PoE Injector. The Dell SonicWALL Wireless Network Security solution also integrates additional security-related features including Wireless Intrusion Detection and Prevention, Virtual Access Points (VAPs), Wireless Guest Services, and Cloud Access Control. In addition, Dell noted that the WiFi portfolio supports easy setup and centralized management.

Gery Pollet, founder and CEO, Zapfi
We know it’s critical to be able to provide our employees and customers with wireless access that is both dependable and secure; however, we need to do so in a way that won’t require costly set-up, deployment and maintenance. Dell SonicPoints enable us to provide the high-performing wireless access we need quickly and easily, and without having to constantly worry about whether or not this access is secure. In addition, we don’t need to buy a separate wireless access controller to manage the SonicPoints, as this is built into the Dell SonicWALL firewall, which saves us both time and money.

Patrick Sweeney, executive director, Dell Security
When we access a wireless network, we expect it to be high-performing and secure — whether that network originates from a coffee shop or a Fortune 100 company — and this increased expectation puts a lot of pressure on smaller businesses to provide an exceptional wireless experience that is secure. With the new SonicPoint AC Series, these SMBs can take advantage of the improved wireless performance offered by the new 802.11ac standard, and know that their network is fully secured. Combine this with a low total cost of ownership, and our customers can be confident that their wireless network is a competitive advantage they don’t have to worry about. They can just focus on their most important job — ensuring their business is successful.
