In a recent interview, Ariana Lynn, Principal Analyst at The Fast Mode spoke to JB Baker, VP of Product at ScaleFlux on the impact of traffic visibility on modern IP networks. JB joins us in a series of discussions with leading networking, analytics and cybersecurity companies, assessing the need for traffic filtering technologies that can deliver real-time, granular application awareness. The series explores how advanced analytics power various network functions amidst the rapid growth in traffic and applications.

Ariana: How do your solutions and products fulfill the demands of today's networks?

JB: ScaleFlux’s products and solutions help reduce data movement between the application nodes (or compute nodes) and the data lakes, contributing to alleviating network and DPI bottlenecks that can add latency and reduce the efficiency of the application nodes. ScaleFlux’s products enable the application nodes to store larger working sets of data, or “local caches,” in a cost-effective manner. This reduces the need to refresh the local cache by retrieving additional data from the remote storage arrays.

Ariana: How important is traffic visibility for your suite of solutions and products?

JB: Traffic visibility is not directly critical for the ScaleFlux products as the network traffic management is performed at a different level than the local storage and memory I/O traffic. To the extent that the DPI function consumes compute & memory resources in the application nodes, the application node performance can benefit from using the stand-out performance and low-latency attributes of the ScaleFlux computational storage drives.

JB Baker is the VP of Product at ScaleFlux, which is the vanguard of computational storage solutions, poised to redefine the landscape of IT infrastructure. With a commitment to innovation, ScaleFlux introduces a revolutionary approach to storage that seamlessly combines hardware and software, designed to unlock unprecedented performance, efficiency, and scalability for data-intensive applications. As the world stands on the brink of a data explosion, ScaleFlux's cutting-edge technology offers a beacon of hope, promising not just to manage the deluge but to transform it into actionable insights and value, heralding a new dawn for businesses and data centers worldwide.

This interview is a part of The Fast Mode's Traffic Visibility segment, featuring leading networking, analytics and cybersecurity companies and their views on the importance of network intelligence and DPI for today's IP networks.
