Movistar has equipped 320,000 homes in the region of Piura, Lambayeque and La Libertad with fiber by the end of 2023, as stated by Elena Maestre, CEO of Telefónica del Perú, during her visit to the cities of Piura, Chiclayo and Trujillo. 

She also announced that by 2024, Movistar plans to connect 510,000 homes to fiber, offering them superior connectivity quality and speed.

The CEO's visit was aimed at learning about the advances in the deployment of fiber optics in the region, as well as learning first-hand how fiber technology is impacting customer experience.

Maestre highlighted that, at the end of 2023, more than 160,000 households in La Libertad are able to access fiber. By the end of 2024, Movistar plans to provide 200,000 homes in the region with fiber access. Likewise, in Piura, more than 130,000 homes already have access to fiber.

As part of her visit, the CEO met with the technical team of the Mujeres en Red program, an initiative of Movistar and its collaborating companies to promote equity in telecommunications, employability and training in this field. At this meeting, seven La Libertad technicians were recognized for their performance and contribution to the digital transformation of the region.
