Windstream Establishes ‘Triversity’ in Nebraska, Boosts Reliability of 911 Services

Windstream yesterday announced that it has activated a new network path from Lincoln to Dallas, providing an additional layer of reliability and protection against outages impacting 911 services and broadband provided by Windstream in Nebraska.

Windstream now has three separate network paths for traffic into and out of Nebraska, connecting to Dallas, Denver and Chicago. In the event that any two of the network paths are disrupted due to a fiber cut or degradation, the third path has the capacity to carry all of Windstream’s traffic in Nebraska until repairs are made.

With regard specifically to 911, the new path establishes a third connection for network links to deliver calls to Nebraska’s statewide next-generation 911 network that operates independently of Windstream.

Brad Hedrick, operations president in Nebraska for Windstream

Activating a third network path into and out of Nebraska means enhanced protection for the services Nebraskans rely on, especially 911, internet access and long-distance calling. Establishing ‘triversity’ in Nebraska reflects Windstream’s commitment to providing a robust network experience along with exceptional customer service. Our network is stronger today, and our customers are the beneficiaries. I want to thank Governor Pillen and the Public Service Commission for their focus on bolstering public safety infrastructure. This network enhancement provides heightened confidence to all of Windstream’s customers in Nebraska—whether they are consumers, small businesses, large enterprises, other carriers or high-bandwidth content providers.
