Mobile SDNAccording to ArcChart report, Software Defined Networking (SDN) is increasingly gaining popularity among wireless broadband carriers as means of better scaling network capacity expansion and reducing costs. The use of centralized software based network control across multiple network elements can enable a multitude of benefits including but not limited to increased efficiency, faster time to new service deployment, and the ability to build multiple virtual networks over a common physical network fabric. SDN also enables tremendous cost savings by reducing reliance on proprietary hardware platforms used for conventional ‘hardware defined’ networking.

Mobile Broadband operators can leverage on SDN to counter the cost increases and respond to revenue pressures from expansion in network infrastructure, especially the 4G/LTE core network element.
