VIVES and Proximus presented a collaboration agreement to explore the possibilities of 5G in various industries.
For at least 3 years, the partners will collaborate on projects related to drone technology, robotics and healthcare. The agreement provides for a framework to exchange expertise, test concepts or applications on 5G and ultimately develop solutions of economic and social importance.
Proximus will, for instance, contribute to a test platform for drone applications at Droneport Ostend, as well as the testing of self-driving vehicles and the training of caregivers at the Kortrijk campus. It will also take part in the development of an expertise center around health care and technology at the Bruges campus.
Potential collaborations around smart sensor networks, security, energy as well as design and manufacturing technology are also being explored.

This agreement is a great example of how we are building an ecosystem of partners in order to identify and develop relevant and innovative 5G applications, in this case on automated drones and self-driving vehicles, the use of IoT for industry robotisation and automation and the training of care-givers. By working closely with industry partners, with academic bodies as well as with research and knowledge institutions, I am convinced that together we can add great social value in the industry and healthcare sector.
