Skylo Technologies, a direct-to-device non-terrestrial network operator, focused on connecting anything, anywhere, last Thursday announced its collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies. The collaboration aims to use Skylo's satellite connectivity solution with the Qualcomm Aware™ Platform, utilizing the new satellite-capable Qualcomm® 212S Modem and Qualcomm® 9205S Modem, offering enhanced connectivity options for a wide range of industries.

Skylo Technologies specializes in delivering NTN services that enable cellular modems, smartphone messaging, wearables, and devices to connect directly over existing satellite networks. By connecting with Skylo's commercial NTN RAN (Radio Access Network), which includes a 3GPP Release 17 standards-based base station and core, the Qualcomm Aware Platform will allow businesses to access reliable and extensive connectivity that easily roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. This integration will enable organizations across various sectors, including agriculture, maritime, logistics, mining, and more, to realize the benefits of enhanced connectivity for their critical operations.

With the addition of Skylo's satellite NTN service to the Qualcomm Aware Platform, Qualcomm Technologies is further expanding its portfolio of innovative solutions to address the evolving needs of the IoT ecosystem. This collaboration will allow Qualcomm Technologies to provide a robust connectivity solution that combines industry-leading silicon and software services with advanced satellite connectivity, resulting in a transformational capability for enterprises with improved operational efficiency, enhanced asset management, and optimized decision-making for enterprises.

The relationship also allows Qualcomm Technologies to utilize Skylo’s forward-looking technology, which is grounded in 3GPP specifications and incorporates technical specifications beyond 3GPP to improve the functionality, interoperability, and reach of the satellite-based network.

The integration of Skylo's NTN service into the Qualcomm Aware Platform aligns with Qualcomm Technologies’ commitment to driving digital transformation and offering developers and enterprises the tools they need to accelerate their IoT initiatives. By combining the advantages of satellite connectivity with the Qualcomm Aware Platform's robust features, businesses can overcome the limitations of traditional connectivity solutions and unlock new possibilities for their IoT deployments.
