BBIX, an Internet Exchange (IX) subsidiary of SoftBank Corp, and BBSakura Networks, a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX, today launched a new optional service called 'Internet Connection' in Open Connectivity eXchange (OCX), a cloud-based network service.

Internet Connection is an optional service that enables customers to connect to the Internet from the OCX network, which is a closed network. BBIX has Japan-leading high capacity as a virtual network enabler provider for Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (NTT West). BBIX also has one of the largest connected capacities with Internet players in Japan as an IX provider. Internet Connection offers customers comfortable Internet access environments to NTT East and NTT West’s FLET’S network, major SaaS providers, content providers, and ISPs by using BBIX’s IX backbone.

While customers have had to prepare their own Internet connections to a data center or other location, Internet Connection enables customers to use high-bandwidth Internet access in a simple and timely manner by applying for the service through the OCX portal site that directly connects to the IX backbone, which previously required the operation of an autonomous system.
