Nikolai Shevalye, business development director of Research and Development Partners (RDP) shares his thoughts on technologies and trends that will take center stage in 2023. As a trusted visionary, Nikolai believes that security risks, such as cyberattacks, industrial espionage, encrypting viruses and cyber fraud, pose an increasing threat to digital companies, and is a key concern that needs to be prioritized.
In the traffic management space, Nikolai points out that new content formats such as 4K, 8K, HDR and VR requires network speeds of more than 100 Mbit/s and ultra-low latencies. Together with increasing traffic demands, substantial computing power is needed at the end device. To accommodate for new types of media content, operators need to adapt and optimize their networks. This can be done by:
- Ensuring end-to-end QoS (quality-of-service) for services
- Enabling distributed computing power at the edge
- Reducing the time to organize service slices (orchestration and automatization)
- Evolution in the development of information security tools
In the broader information technology domain, Nikolai predicts that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data applications will greatly transform both IT and network operations, increasing planning efficiencies by better modelling ‘What-If’ scenarios and optimizing both OpEx and CapEx. Despite increasing economic uncertainties and supply-chain turbulence, technologies such as AI enable both software and hardware industries to continue meeting customer demands in terms of delivery times and costs.
Commenting on what innovations and technologies RDP has to offer in the IT and networking space, Nikolai said, “RDP provides operators with game-changing solutions that cater for the requirements of today’s demanding networks. With regard to its plans for the upcoming year, RDP has two new products in the pipeline, namely its IP Fabric and Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW). Apart from this, the company also recently released its very own Network Packet Broker (NPB), an intelligent traffic optimization solution that provides deep visibility into operator networks and redistributes traffic between network analyzers, ensuring network security, optimization, and performance.
