In conjunction with MWC 2023, set to begin today at the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Tara Neal, Executive Editor at The Fast Mode spoke to Paul Savill, Global Practice Lead for Network & Edge, Kyndryl. In the brief interview, Paul discusses the company’s expectations and plans for the event.
Tara: What are the key event themes that you will be involved in?
Paul: Kyndryl is proud to be the Event Theme Partner for MWC’s OpenNet Track, where the focus will be on how embracing fully interoperable mobile networks is foundational to building future-proof, agile networks and will accelerate the adoption of 5G, IoT, edge and cloud technologies. We believe that openness, innovation, and flexibility across the networks ecosystem are key for enabling enterprises to drive innovation and usher in Industry 4.0.
Tara: Can we expect any key announcements?
Paul: Kyndryl and Nokia very recently announced an expansion of our global network and edge partnership that we’ll be discussing at MWC. The initiative is focused on developing and delivering industry-leading LTE and 5G private wireless services and Industry 4.0 solutions to customers worldwide. Together, Kyndryl and Nokia are addressing the growing demand for industrial-grade wireless networking to capitalize on the transformational benefits of digitization and automation.
Gretchen Tinnerman, Kyndryl’s VP of Network & Edge US, will join Nokia President & CEO Pekka Lundmark during a keynote to discuss co-creation in the industry and the importance of collaborative partnerships during a time that is ripe for Industry 4.0 with a confluence of technology enablers.
Kyndryl and Nokia will be showcasing a joint live demo around transforming industrial operations. During the show, 27 February – 2 March, MWC attendees are invited to join us for an interactive simulation that illustrates LTE/4G and 5G private wireless deployment at the Nokia partner arena, booth #3A20/2A2. We will discuss how the solution is helping physical industries improve employee productivity, reduce costly human errors, and enhance worker safety, all behind the security of a private wireless intelligent network.
Tara: What emerging trends and technologies do you expect to unfold in your tech segment in 2023?
Paul: Private wireless networks will usher in a new wave of innovation, intelligence, and technological capabilities for enterprises and the public sector looking beyond traditional connectivity to accelerate digital transformation. At Kyndryl, we have seen strong traction in the adoption of LTE/4G and 5G private wireless in manufacturing and petrochemical industries, and see 2023 as the year that other industries, from healthcare, mining, to financial services, will embrace private wireless and edge computing to solve complex connectivity issues.
Kyndryl is uniquely positioned to help lead this transformation across industries, and through its expanding partnership with Nokia, we deliver a leading combination of deep technology and integration expertise that is driving significant impact with the public sector and enterprises across industries.
