Samsung and Verizon announced they have successfully deployed over 10,000 vRAN cell sites across the U.S., marking significant progress toward Verizon’s goal of deploying 20,000 vRAN sites by 2025.

As the lead network solutions provider supporting Verizon’s journey toward a fully virtualized 5G network, Samsung has helped Verizon grow from 8,000 vRAN sites (announced in Sept. 2022) to 10,000 vRAN sites today. Powered by Samsung’s 5G vRAN solutions, these sites provide Verizon with a network that scales easily, allows for rapid upgrades, and can be flexibly managed with centralized resources.

This announcement follows other recent milestones in the advancement of Verizon’s 5G networks, including:

 - In January 2022, Verizon launched its first 5G C-band commercial service in the U.S., leveraging Samsung’s vRAN and 5G Massive MIMO C-Band radios.

 - In an announcement earlier this week, Verizon shared that its C-band network now covers more than 175 million people nationwide.

As the only major vendor with wide-scale commercial 5G vRAN deployments in North America, Europe and Asia with Tier 1 operators, Samsung is the global leader in vRAN and looks forward to supporting Verizon’s vRAN advances in 2023.
