LightEdge, a leading provider of colocation, cloud, and managed service solutions, partnered with Synetic Technologies to recycle 6,800 pounds of e-waste and support the Circular Computing movement, which has planted over 260,000 trees.

For every laptop, monitor, and desktop PC that Synetic — a global leader in secure IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) and value recovery services — sends through the Circular Computing ecosystem, five trees are planted as part of the movement’s reforestation commitment.

Circular Computing, which works with reforestation partners in Africa, India, and the U.S., remanufactures the computers and plants another five trees for every laptop they sell.

The considerable carbon, water, and mineral footprint of a new computer is avoided through the second life of a remanufactured laptop. This program and the partnership with Synetic Technologies have contributed to planting over 260,000 trees around the world. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), “recycling one million laptops saves the energy equivalent to the electricity used by more than 3,500 US homes in a year.”

With LightEdge’s corporate sustainability initiatives and purpose-built data centers that minimize environmental footprint, the company is proving its commitment to green practices. NFINIT, a San Diego-based full-stack technology provider that LightEdge recently acquired, also announced that the company invested $8 million in cloud infrastructure and data center upgrades, boosting its energy efficiency by 20% and reducing its overall carbon footprint.

Gary Agness, Vice President for Synetic Technologies
Not only does Circular Computing plant five trees for every laptop that’s donated and remanufactured, but the team also offers certified carbon-neutral products, supports clean energy projects, and more.
