Chunghwa Telecom has joined hands with international chip maker Qualcomm, Taiwanese mobile phone brand ASUS, and cloud game developer Gamestream to create 4K games powered by 5G mmWave (millimeter wave) in the 5G vertical application.

Chunghwa Telecom 5G has the largest continuous bandwidth and the best frequency position of the international mainstream 3.5GHz spectrum. For the 28GHz millimeter-wave frequency band that can achieve higher speed and low latency, it can also achieve a maximum bandwidth of 600MHz.

Chunghwa Telecom’s 28GHz 5G millimeter wave frequency band has the theoretical value of 3Gbps download rate and two-way delay of 5~6ms. It requires a large amount of data for AR/VR live video, high-quality video and 4K cloud games. High speed and low delay 5G new applications, providing a better development environment.

This time, Chunghwa Telecom used the Snapdragon Insiders, the only smartphone in Taiwan that supports 5G mmWave, built by Qualcomm and ASUS as a platform, and successfully loaded two 4K-quality Hami cloud games "Deliver Us the Moon", "Redout".

Lin Rongci, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chunghwa Telecom
With its strong information and communication capabilities, Chunghwa Telecom has always been committed to providing consumers with the most complete services. In cooperation with Gamestream, it is the first in Taiwan to demonstrate the new realm that 5G mmWave can bring to the game industry. You can experience the desktop-level experience through mobile devices, successfully expanding the possibility of cloud gaming, and looking forward to fully utilizing the high-speed and low-latency features of 5G , to provide consumers with a brand-new 5G 4K cloud gaming service, creating the ultimate enjoyment of audio-visual entertainment.

Liu Sitai, vice president of Qualcomm and president of Taiwan, Southeast Asia and New Zealand and Australia
5G mmWave makes full use of the frequency band above 24GHz, and the transmission performance of 5G mmWave devices equipped with the Snapdragon mobile platform is 16 times faster than that of 5G frequency bands below 6 GHz. High-density fields can also achieve smooth mobile transmission. As a global leader in wireless communication technology, we are very pleased to demonstrate the changes brought by 5G mmWave to the game industry ecosystem in Taiwan.
