Ranplan Wireless, a leading developer of software for wireless network design, this week announced a new optimisation module in the 6.4 release of Ranplan Professional, which will help RF Designers maximise network design accuracy prior to deployment.
As new frequencies and technologies are added to existing networks to meet user demands, it poses a challenge for RF designers to achieve seamless interoperability between systems. Ranplan Wireless’ new Automatic Cell Optimiser (ACO) module enables RF designers to evaluate a new system or an upgraded system design as a whole, rather than per individual system.
The ACO allows RF Designers to define multiple parameters and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), such as signal strength, signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and throughput, before running tens of thousands of network configurations at various levels of precision. The results can be used to automatically tune the transmitter’s location, quantity, power, and antenna configuration of each standalone source within a network (GSM, WCDMA, LTE, 5G and Wi-Fi) to achieve the desired KPIs.

The ACO’s ability to evaluate multiple systems, devices, regions, scenarios and variables in one calculation will significantly reduce design time and deliver new levels of accuracy, which will result in superior network performance when deployed. In addition, the ACO will highlight any surplus equipment in the design which is likely to create significant savings for Operators and Systems Integrators.
