Singapore's StarHub is delighted that the StarHub-M1 consortium has secured five lots of 2.1GHz wireless spectrum (including two FROR lots) to expand and enhance 5G coverage and services for Singapore consumers, enterprises and Government clients.
These additional spectrum lots are especially important for StarHub to provide excellent indoor 5G coverage for customers. The auction prices were $15.5 million per 5G spectrum lot and $3 million per FROR lot.
StarHub was the first in Singapore to launch 5G services in 2020 and it now offers services via its 5G network that is on target to achieve 75% by the end of the year. Nationwide 5G coverage is expected next year. StarHub has since launched a continuum of 5G commercial services such as Mobile+ and Biz+ plans, cloud gaming with NVIDIA, Mobile Edge Computing, Digital Workplace, and 5G IoT Platform Services.
The joint 5G network rollout with M1 allows both companies to optimise infrastructure spectrum costs as well as to reduce the carbon footprint of their 5G service offering.
