Telly Partners SLA Mobile to Enable Direct Operator Billing for VoD

Telly, a firm which makes it easy for people to discover new video-on-demand content via social recommendations, partners with SLA Mobile, a global mobile solutions provider that helps service providers to monetize their network and data assets, to enable video-on-demand (VoD) purchases via Direct Operator Billing (DOB) on mobile phones.

The DOB or Carrier Billing allows users to pay for digital goods by charging the transaction to their mobile phone monthly bill or using their pre-paid credit. Telly recently launched its premium subscription service Telly Plus in 23 countries in the Middle East and Africa and announced distribution deals with Sony Pictures Television and Miramax.

According to Telly, based on the significant growth in revenue from mobile content and apps in the Middle East and Africa, it is important that providers of digital content give their customers an easy payment solution so that they can conveniently consume the content through their mobile devices.

“We are excited to be working with SLA Mobile as our mobile payments solutions provider. SLA Mobile’s connections with global mobile operators such as Zain Group provide us with the ability to connect to millions of mobile subscribers in the Middle East and Africa. We are initially launching the service with Zain Kuwait and will be expanding its reach within the next few months. The mobile payment service will make it even easier for consumers to access Telly’s full range of content offerings through a subscription-based plan on their mobile device.”

-    Mo Al Adham, CEO, Telly

“SLA Mobile has seen considerable growth in demand from companies like Telly who are seeking a simple and secure mobile payment solution for their customers. Our partnership with Telly is focused on working with their team to develop initiatives to support their business and expand their offerings, and Direct Operator Billing is just one of the innovative API services we can provide through our API Management platform.  Our platform is designed to help companies improve their competitiveness and increase customer loyalty and retention, and we see considerable opportunities to launch creative new services in partnership with Telly in the months ahead."
