Ranatec, a part of the Qamcom Group and supplier of specialized test and measurement equipment for RF and microwave applications, last week announced it has experienced a very strong 1st half in 5G test equipment requests from the Asian market, requiring an increase in production capacity to handle demand. The company saw a 250% YoY (Year on Year) increase in 1H 2020 orders from Asia, compared to 1H 2019.

The supplier of niche test equipment sees the strong influx of orders from Asia as an indication the Asian market is trending towards heavy investments in 5G technology and development.

Magnus Killian, CEO of Ranatec
We are experiencing keen interest in 5G test equipment investments this year from Asia, despite the general effect that COVID-19 has had on markets in the first half of 2020. At the same time, the European market appears to be taking a more careful approach to 5G expenditures and development.
