Sparkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top ten global operators, recently announced the expansion of its European backbone with a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Rome, Italy.

Rome is the first city in the European Union for extension and a vibrant business district in Italy being home to many national and international companies specialized in various sectors - including Fashion, Design, Film, Oil, Pharmaceutical, Telecommunication and ICT - as well as an important center for universities and research institutes.

Located at Tecnopolo Tiburtino in the eastern part of the city, the new PoP adds to the three existing sites in the metropolitan area, increasing the capillarity of Sparkle’s city ring in Rome, a protected and redundant system, fully integrated with Sparkle’s Tier-1 global IP backbone Seabone.

With the new PoP, Sparkle will provide Seabone IP Transit and City2City transport solutions to Tecnopolo Tiburtino’s rich ecosystem of more than 100 companies operating in the ICT, Aerospace, Green Economy, Research and Technology Transfer sectors.

In addition, customers will be able to benefit from Sparkle’s complete range of IP and data services, including DDoS Protection Service – that provides multiple options to protect customer networks from DDos attacks - Virtual NAP, that allows customers to access the main internet exchange points without the need of building any proprietary infrastructure, and Ethernet Suite for secure and transparent Ethernet connectivity.
