Vodafone New Zealand has opened its first Vodafone 5G Innovation Lab in Ōtautahi, Christchurch to help organisations understand the power of 5G and next generation technologies.

The Vodafone 5G Innovation Lab will aim to help organisations in Aotearoa understand how they can utilise the increased online speeds, better responsiveness and more capacity for connected devices the 5G offers.

International and emerging local case studies highlight the potential of the 5G to deliver benefits across health, transportation, integrated manufacturing, utilities, safety, waste management and intelligent electricity networks amongst others.

Some of the initial local use case developments include a 5G-enabled drone for the NZ Police and an AI-solution for retail stores with the Aware Group – plus Waste Management, BNZ and Auckland’ Rescue Helicopter are currently working with Vodafone to design 5G applications.

Michelle Sharp, Head of South Island, Vodafone New Zealand
Christchurch has a great business community and a progressive range of organisations looking to transform the city, so we’re excited to further bolster this via an awesome, world-class mobile network.
