Swedish tech-company Waystream, a leading provider of switches for fiber and city networks, has signed a frame agreement with a large Danish operator to upgrade existing customer connections.

The first order is expected in early 2020 and means that Waystream's new access switch ASR8048 will be used to replace existing equipment from another vendor. Using the ASR8048 it is possible to offer services up to 10Gbit/s speed on each connection.

The ASR8000 is Waystream's new flagship product that was launched in the summer of 2019. It comes in models with 24 or 48-ports 10Gbit/s for connection of residential and business customers in city networks. The model series also supports extended temperature range. When combined with super low power optics the ASR8000 has among the lowest power consumption figures on the market, which also makes the solution a smart climate choice.

The new network built with Waystream switches will also open up for other service providers through wholesale of connections. The Danish market is dominated by a few larger service providers but by introducing wholesale higher penetration rates are expected for the fiber network.
