Türk Telekom and Huawei announced that they have achieved a single user 5G smartphone speed above 2.92 Gbps in in a live 5G test network.

At the same time, Türk Telekom was also the world’s first operator to test 5G New Radio Carrier Integration Technology (C-Band NR Carrier Aggregation) with the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G smartphone.

Türk Telekom and Huawei established a live 5G test network in compliance with international 3GPP standards at Ümraniye Teknopark Mobile Network Test Center. As a result of the trial, 5G’s highest speed to date has been reached with the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G smartphone, using Türk Telekom’s 5G compatible SIM card.

Yusuf Kirac, CTO, Turk Telekom
We combined two 5G carriers and established a new world record by reaching speeds of above 2.92 Gbps in our live 5G test network. We are also the first operator to experiment with the 5G New Radio Carrier Aggregation Technology (C-Band NR Carrier Aggregation), which doubles the 5G link speed.

Simon Pei, Deputy Country GM, Huawei Turkey
Based on C-band 200MHz IBW and 2CC Carrier Aggregation technologies which only Huawei products can support, the test was performed in Türk Telekom’s test network with Huawei 5G commercial network equipment.
