Telefónica Deutschland said it continued to massively expand its LTE network in the summer month of July, connecting many holiday resorts to the fast Internet.

From the Baltic Sea to the Black Forest, the company put more than 600 new LTE transmitters into operation last month. The quality of the O2 network has been further improved by the expansion measures in numerous German cities and communities as well as along important traffic routes. In total, the company will install around 10,000 new LTE transmitters in its network this year.

Parallel to the expansion of nationwide LTE coverage, Telefónica Deutschland has pushed ahead with the expansion and densification of the O2 LTE network in urban areas and in heavily frequented holiday resorts. To this end, the company increased capacities at existing LTE locations by using additional frequencies. The LTE standard was added to existing GSM/UMTS sites. As a result, local customers now have higher LTE capacities and more LTE locations available for mobile data use.

Among others, O2 customers in cities such as Berlin, Bremen, Dortmund, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen, Frankfurt am Main, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Hanover, Leipzig, Mannheim, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart will benefit from this improved coverage.

Cayetano Carbajo, CTO, Telefonica Deutschland
In our LTE expansion offensive, customer benefit comes first. Every month we continue to expand where our customers live, work and move. As a customer champion, we will continue to improve the network experience of our customers in the future.
