China Unicom Beijing Branch announced the official release of the “5G NEXT” program where it plans to build 300 5G base stations by the end of 2018.

The Operator also said that it will run 5G pilot trials in 16 mjor cities across the country including Tianjin, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Guiyang, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Zhengzhou, and Shenyang.

Recently, the Operator has signed a 5G strategic partnership agreement with Huawei to fully leverage their respective innovative strengths in 5G and focus on cooperation in E2E 5G technical verification, cooperation with vertical industry partners, building of the 5G ecosystem, and 5G service incubation and promotion.
