Safaricom, Kenya's biggest mobile operator has recently announced a 53 percent reduction in mobile broadband pricing for customers on its Safaricom Home service.

This will see Safaricom Home customers access two new bundles, Easy30 and Easy50 at Sh 3,500 for 30 Gigabytes (GB) and Sh 6,000 for 50 GB respectively.

Both Easy30 and Easy50 will be exclusively available through the new Safaricom Digital Internet and TV Box and the Safaricom BIGBox. The packages are provided as an alternative to the fixed Safaricom Home Fibre service. 

Safaricom Home Customers who exhaust their bundles before the end of the bundle validity period can continue accessing the internet at speeds of 256 kbps and at no additional cost until the end of the period.

The Safaricom Digital Internet and TV Box is designed as a home internet and entertainment hub. It provides Wi-Fi connectivity for up to 8 devices and can also be connected to TVs for video and music content.

Customers can stream content from ShowMax, iFlix and other apps on the Google Play Store and also download games to the device. The Box also supports watching of content from a USB storage device and Free to Air Television. 

The Android powered Box can either be connected to a fixed home internet connection or to a mobile broadband 3G/4G connection for customers not on home fibre. The Box is available countrywide at Safaricom Shops at Sh 9,999 and at a discounted Sh 5,999 for active Safaricom Home Fibre customers.
