Sprint has selected Taqua’s Virtual Mobile Core Solution to enhance subscriber voice and messaging services by leveraging the WiFi network. Taqua®, a leading supplier of mobile and fixed network core networking IP convergence systems and applications has implemented its VoWiFi solution to enable a transparent user communications experience over the WiFi network for Sprint. In both cases, voice and messaging communications are handled by the Taqua Virtual Mobile Core via session internet protocol (SIP) across the broadband network from either the subscriber’s femtocell or now WiFi access.
The Taqua Virtual Mobile Core appears as a MSC/VLR towards the circuit-switched core and delivers complete feature transparency for voice, messaging and supplementary services including single number service. The seamless user experience is maintained by utilizing the subscriber profiles from the legacy cellular infrastructure.
“Sprint continues to be a leader in offering advanced mobile solutions and we are pleased to be an integral part of these efforts, “ said Eric Pratt, Taqua’s chief executive officer. “The Taqua Virtual Mobile Core has proven to be a robust and flexible platform that can enable a variety of interworking opportunities between 3G, small cell, Wi-Fi, and 4G/LTE networks. We look forward to working closely with Sprint and continue to look for ways that we can help deliver the highest quality communications.”
