Digicel Group. one of the largest mobile telecommunications operator in the Caribbean and a recent new entrant to the Central American mobile market has selected Accuris Networks' Wi-Fi offload and roaming platform, AccuROAM to be made available to its subscribers in 31 markets in the Caribbean, Central America and Asia-Pacific region. AccuROAM which enables any Wi-Fi network to function as a full extension of GSM or CDMA networks for billing, policy, and authentication, uses SIM-based account credentials to enable mobile users to automatically and securely connect to Wi-Fi hotspots around the world without the need to enter cumbersome usernames and passwords.

According to Accuris Networks, forward-looking mobile operators like Digicel are increasingly seeing the advantage of leveraging Wi-Fi access now to provide subscribers with valuable roaming and offload services. AccuROAM has the unique ability to enable mobile service functionality over Wi-Fi in challenging environments like the air, the ocean and remote locations.

We're always on the lookout for innovative technology, which we found in AccuROAM," said Conor Clarke, international business director for Digicel Group. "Besides Accuris Network’s ability to deliver a seamless authentication framework for Wi-Fi, the solution is easy to integrate. It will let us provide new services to our customers that offer real convenience and cost advantages as they use their mobile devices."

"We are seeing rapid movement in the mobile industry toward solutions that deliver the seamless, secure access that users want,” said Accuris Chairman Larry Quinn.  “Accuris Networks has worked with communications providers to deliver inflight connectivity as well as with carriers to deliver Hotspot 2.0 Passpoint™ access."
