ZTE has launched an enhanced optical transport network (E-OTN) product that adopts optical-electrical integration design and supports reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) and centralised electrical cross-connection technologies.

According to ZTE, the new product, codenamed ZXMP M721 CX66A, implements non-blocked cross-scheduling of optical channel data unit (ODUks), packets (PKTs), and virtual containers (VCs). Various high-order modulation methods are supported, and the board speed at the line side can reach 200 Gbit/s.

It has high integration, large capacity, intelligence and energy saving design with low deployment cost, and is applicable to service transmission in the convergence and access layer, said ZTE. The software-defined optical networking (SDON) technology is used to construct an intelligent and open network architecture. The OTN-lite and super-low delay technologies are used to support future 5G network deployment.

With the rapid development of 5G and big video services, the demand for bandwidth has increased sharply, and the transport networks with very large capacities are required.

The ZXMP M721 CX66A effectively promotes end-to-end OTN deployment, and will accelerate service development in the 5G and big video era.
