Kuwait's VIVA announced that it has successfully tested the 5G technology in its lab and was able to achieve almost 35Gbps.

Being the first telecom company in Kuwait to try the unrivalled 5G, reflects its continuous commitment to its customers to deliver up-to-date technologies that meet their aspirations, said the Operator. 5G will be providing multiple gigabit speeds in cityscape areas which will allow people and machines to step into a new era of information technology and help better in implementing the internet of things (IoT), it added. 

On the other hand, VIVA customer base has reached 2.4 million at the end of December 2016. Launched in December 2008, VIVA is the newest mobile telecommunications service provider in the country. 

VIVA recorded revenues of KD 279 million during FY 2016 and achieved net profit of KD 40 million (earnings per share of 80 fils) in 2016, whereas the operating profit has reached KD 44 million during the same year.
