Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile unit of Deutsche Telekom, said that it has started a large-scale rollout of LTE 900 which is suitable for carrying the mobile signal deeper into buildings and residential buildings.

The Operator has already deployed the new spectrum in cities such as Bonn, Cologne, Leipzig, Berlin and Stuttgart and it plans to cover more than 4,000 locations by end of this year.

The frequency range around 900 MHz was used for the GSM network for many years which was than re-auctioned by the Federal Network Agency in 2015. In order to get into the auctioned frequency positions,  Telekom and Vodafone have carried out an extensive and coordinated reshuffling of their previous GSM frequencies over the past weeks.

The Operator said that the conversion of technology at mobile radio stations to single RAN and the use of LTE 900 are further building blocks for it to pave the way to 5G5G will open up new digital applications through a tight network of fixed and mobile networks, as the network will provide higher data rates, higher capacity and extremely low latency, added the Operator.

This means we are once again improving the quality of our customers. At the same time we are using this frequency until the end of 2019. LTE everywhere can offer, where today mobile telephony is already possible. This allows customers to access fast data connections virtually anywhere and at any time.
