Juniper Networks announced the company's intent to acquire AppFormix, an innovator in cloud operations management. AppFormix's platform for cloud operations is built on big-data analytics and machine learning, putting self-driving infrastructure at the core of every cloud.

"AppFormix brings streaming analytics and machine learning technologies to Juniper that are tailored for managing operations of large OpenStack and Kubernetes-based Hybrid clouds and Network Function Virtualization (NFV)/Telco clouds," wrote Ankur Singla, Juniper’s Vice President, Office of the CTO in a blog post.

Founder and CEO of AppFormix, Sumeet Singh, said that, "Juniper is focused on delivering agile, virtualized networking technologies to its telecom customers and other operators of large networks. At the heart of the NFV fabrics that power these networks are the VNFs that define the network services that customers deploy and operate. Those NFVs have to be monitored and managed, and AppFormix is the absolute best platform on the market to make this work in a scale-out, business-is-on-the-line environment. Together, AppFormix and Juniper can give customers the best possible NFV experience."

The AppFormix team will report to Juniper's office of the CTO

Pradeep Sindhu, founder, vice president and CTO at Juniper Networks
With the acquisition of AppFormix, we're accelerating our vision to use software automation and intelligence to deliver a smarter network and more simplified operations for our customers around the world.
