Vodafone Germany said it has become the first operator in Europe to roll out Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) technology to improve the voice quality on its mobile network. Dubbed as, ‘Vodafone Crystal Clear’ the technology makes voice quality even better than the standard HD Voice.

The new service has been enabled across the company’s entire 4G LTE network, covering around 89% of the population. The first smartphones with which users can experience the new crystal clear calls, will be introduced in coming weeks on the market, said the Operator.

The EVS technology enhances the voice service on the entire audible frequency range of human 20kHz instead of the usual 7 kHz, supporting bandwidth from Narrow Band (NB) to super-wideband (SWB). The new voice technology with the previous codec Adaptive Multi Rate(AMR) is already used since 2000, according to a study, "Behind the VoLTE Curtain" by Spirent Communications and Signal Research,
