SFR this week launched the 4G LTE-Advanced service with speeds of up to 337.5Mbps in the Brest area, with Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Montpellier and Nantes being the next destinations to see the rollout of the service, scheduled before summer this year. The operator also plans to expand the service to over 20 major cities by the end of the year.
The service, dubbed as Ultra Mobile Broadband is made possible via Triple Carrier Aggregation of 800 MHz, 2600 MHz and 1800 MHz 4G LTE spectrums.
The service will be available at no extra cost to SFR customers with a 4G package and a compatible device, and SFR has already started selling two compatible devices - the Samsung Galaxy Edge S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7.
In addition, SFR is deploying its existing 4G service on the 1800MHz, an additional frequency band for the service, expecting an increase in the total capacity of the 4G network and 4G speeds, said the Operator in a statement.
SFR claims that it has commissioned about 2 times more of 4G sites than its competitors in the first quarter of this year.
