Radix at Asia Tech x Singapore 2022: Growing Need for Secure Cloud-based Device Management Post-Pandemic

With Asia Tech x Singapore 2022 wrapping up this week, Tara Neal, Executive Editor at The Fast Mode spoke to Nadav Avni, CMO at Radix on the company's expectations for and their showcases at this year's event. Nadav was also asked on some of the recent trends and use cases for advanced device management solutions.

Tara: What are some of the trends that are unfolding in the device fleet management space?

Nadav: COVID-19 accelerated the digital transformation process, as many organizations moved to remote and hybrid setting at first to keep safe and open for business, and post Covid for other reasons such as cost and time efficiency.

The result is that organizations are more dependent on connected devices used by employees, becoming the backbone of the organization.

Also, organizations biggest concern is cybersecurity and the imminent threat is usually coming from within by using connected devices owned by the organization or by employees used for work purposes in an irresponsible way.

Device management is no longer a nice to have it is a must to ensure devices will stay healthy, patched and tuned to their mission and streamline operations.

Having said that, the trends we see are:

  • increase of awareness and use of device management
  • organizations are looking for highly secured cloud-based management solutions that can cater to all devices (no matter the type of device or OS), related work processes and stakeholders in one platform
  • large fleets of connected devices especially Android-based are owned by telcos, operators and services providers such as Set-Top-Boxes and other IoT devices are leased to customers and require management in order to keep the devices healthy, patched and tuned to their mission and protect customers personal data
  • VR devices are becoming very popular for training purposes as they enable immersive experiences and improve employees performance, this fact is backed by studies. In addition to being popular, VR devices are considered an investment and as such require to be managed to stay healthy patched and tuned to their mission.

Tara: How do telecom operators and service providers benefit from the insights and visibility on the performance, security and usage of customer devices?

Nadav: Today, large fleets of connected devices especially Android-based are owned by telcos, operators and services providers such as Set-Top-Boxes and other IoT devices are leased to customers. The lease is considered an important recurring revenue source. The control over the UI, content, advertising and additional services offered in addition to the collection of customer data in terms of usage and preferences enable the customization for the user usually resulting in more customer stickiness and increased consumption of content and services which translates to additional revenue.

Going back to the aspect of control, the ability to manage the apps, device settings and configuration, provide remote support, device monitoring and updating the device firmware remotely resulting in

  • reduce customer service time spent on support calls
  • reduce onsite visits
  • proactively solve problems before they surface
  • and most importantly reduce customer churn

all of that translates to a significant savings of time and money

Tara: How does device fleet management enhance virtual reality experiences? How will this boost the VR market?

Nadav: VR devices are becoming very popular in many verticals, especially for training purposes as they enable immersive experiences and improve employees performance, from doctors performing surgeries to workers working in factory assembly lines, this fact is backed by studies. In addition to being popular VR devices are considered an investment and as such require to be managed to stay healthy patched and tuned to their mission.

Device management will enable all stakeholders in the organization to optimize their VR device fleet usage, here are some examples:

  • IT admins - centrally manage, monitor and secure the device fleet
  • Support - support users remotely in real-time
  • Executives - analyze and optimize device usage across the organization
  • Coordinators - control and guide immersive VR experiences of multiple users
  • Finance - track, lock and wipe devices if lost or stolen
  • Project Managers - make fact-based decisions based on reports
  • Marketing - push messages to all devices in real-time
  • Developers - develop using API, SDK, firmware integration, etc.
  • OEMs and vendors – provide a powerful management layer to your unique devices (considered an industry standard for every connected device purchased by a corporate)

Tara: Finally, are you excited to be part of ATxSG? What are your key showcases at the event?

Nadav: Radix and I are excited to be part of ATxSG, Asia’s largest tech show, if you are doing business in the APAC region this is the place to be for brand awareness, network with industry peers and looks for new business opportunities.
