Mexican telecoms operator, Axtel has completed the acquisition of the remaining 49 percent of Estratel, a Mexican firm specializing in the integration of IT solutions for government and enterprise customers.

Axtel's merger with Alestra which acquired 51% stake in Estratel last year to boost its offering of IT solutions and communication in the West, Bajio and Southeast regions of the country, saw the company taking its stake in the later. Axtel offers fixed-line services, including telephony, broadband Internet and TV, while Alestra focuses on corporate customers, and includes data centers, networks, cloud and consultancy services.

Axtel highlighted that Estratel generates annual revenues of 250 million pesos, has presence in the cities of Guadalajara, Querétaro, Mérida, Campeche, Chetumal, México City and Monterrey and has a specialized team of more than 100 employees.

The company also noted that Estratel will retain its brand and will remain independent in its commercial operations, leveraging capabilities from Axtel’s fiber optic network and portfolio of other solutions.

Rolando Zubirán Shetler, CEO, Axtel
The 100% acquisition of Estratel is part of our strategy to strengthen our IT capabilities to address the needs of the enterprise and government segments. We are convinced that its contribution will continue generating value to our clients and will boost our competitiveness in the market.
