KPN Health Acquires Itzos to Bolster Healthcare Division

KPN Health has taken over integration specialist Itzos from Vianen, taking the next step in unlocking and connecting data from medical information systems across healthcare institutions at a national, regional and local level.

KPN Health Exchange is a service that supports healthcare institutions with data infrastructure to make healthcare information accessible to patients, healthcare professionals and applications in a secure and standardized manner, such that institutions retain full control over their data and medical information.

Itzos will leverage the InterSystems data platform to facilitate the creation of this healthcare data exchange platform. The current management team at Itzos will also be a part of this.

By making data sharing possible, collaboration between healthcare institutions becomes easier and healthcare information becomes digitally available and usable. The takeover reflects KPN Health's ambition to connect everyone to accessible healthcare in a seamless and safe way. This way, every Dutch individual will soon be able to view his medical data from a single platform, including past healthcare records such as visited hospitals, general practitioners, physiotherapists or elderly care.

Using a PHE (Personal Health Environment), users can view all this data from an app or website which only they can access. Self-measured health data can also be added, such as from a pedometer or a blood pressure monitor.

Vinood Mangroelal, Director, KPN Health
Access to healthcare data plays an important role in keeping healthcare accessible and future-proof. With the KPN Health Exchange we facilitate this data exchange in a secure and standardized manner. KPN and Itzos have been working together for some time on the KPN Health Exchange, with Itzos mainly focusing on data management and integration. With the additional expertise and solutions of Itzos, we enrich our KPN Health Exchange services and accelerate the movement towards standardized and scalable platforms.

Mark van Dijk, Director, Itzos
For the best patient/client and healthcare experience, collaboration and adequate sharing of data is necessary, as all disciplines within the healthcare sector are aware of this. Our solutions for integration and exchange of data have already proven themselves in healthcare; from hospitals to laboratories and from institutions for elderly care to mental health care. KPN has the technological expertise and industry-leading infrastructure to increase the scalability of our solutions to meet the growing market demand for data exchange services. With this acquisition, KPN Health offers us a future-proof basis for the further development and operational management of our services.
