Except for UK, where its service revenue declined 3.2 percent, Vodafone group's performance across its European operations improved year-on-year - Germany (+1.6 percent), Spain (+1.3 percent) and Italy (+1.2 percent) - offseting the decline in its home market and setting the overall growth of 0.3 percent in Europe .
Vodafone also saw high churn in its last results in the UK, which it blamed on a troubled IT migration project. The issue however did not stop the Operator from adding a total of 28k new fixed line broadband customers in the second quarter, bringing its total to date to 137k.
Vodafone said that customers in multiple markets are attracted by its ‘more-for- more’ commercial offerings of larger data bundles and extra services.
Vodafone Group’s organic service revenue grew by 2.2% year on year to EUR 12.3 billion in the quarter ended 30 June, driven by strong demand for mobile services in emerging markets. The UK-based group Operator's total revenue, however declined 4.5 percent to €13.4 billion.
Overall, fixed service revenue trends continue to be robust with a growth of 3.3% (Q4: 5.4%) driven by broadband customer growth.
