AT&T Posts 4.9% Increase in Wireless Revenue, Adds 500K Connected Car Accounts and Boasts Lowest PostPaid Churn

AT&T released its Third Quarter Earning Results yesterday. For the quarter ended 30 September 2014, AT&T recorded an increase of 4.9% in its wireless revenues and an increase of 24.6% in its wireless operating income compared to the same period last year. Overall, AT&T's consolidated revenues for third-quarter increased 2.5% to USD33 billion. However, its diluted EPS fell from $0.72 in the third quarter of 2013 to $0.58 in the last quarter. 

According to AT&T, the 3rd quarter of 2014 saw an addition of more than 2 million new wireless and wireline high-speed broadband connections on its network. For the wireless segment, there were 785,000 net adds for postpaid accounts, which brings the total net adds for the year to more than 2.4 million. New postpaid smartphones added hit close to 1.2 million and smartphones accounted for 91% of postpaid phone sales. At the same time, there were 1.275 million net adds for the connected devices segment including more than 500,000 connected cars.

In terms of its service packages, AT&T said that AT&T Mobile Share boasts nearly 47 million connections, and more than half of its Mobile Share accounts are on data plans of 10 GB or higher. AT&T also said that the third quarter of this year recorded the best-ever postpaid churn of 0.99%.
