According to Techcrunch, Verizon is said to acquire EdgeCast Networks in its bid to strenghten its digital media business segment by expanding its content delivery networks. Although there is no official confirmation on the acquisition, there is an expectation that a purchase price of USD350 million will be paid to the Los Angeles based CDN provider with actual details to be announced in the coming days. The acquisition, which will be a big move for a mobile operator, might start off more such acquisitions among other mobile operators who are making inroads into the digital services segment. Edgecast Networks has more than 6,000 clients including leading MNOs such as Deutsche Telekom, Telus, Pacnet and PCCW in addition to major search engine and social media companies such as Yahoo, LinkedIn, Tumblr, myspace and others. Read More ''Verizon Is Acquiring Content Delivery Network EdgeCast For More Than $350 Million'
