With the need for data so high, the market can only expect more and more devices and technologies to come into play to deliver that data to everyone, anywhere, anytime. 4G LTE is spuring the game further, making it easier and faster for subscribers to connect not only to their favourite sites and applications, but also to people and any machine that is connected to the network.

KPCB Internet Trends 2013 has some very interesting information that highlights how communication has evolved and how the hunger for data and connectivity continues to spur the growth for mobile data. Mobile internet access and mobile search queries have already surpassed the PC in the second half of 2012 and 45% of Groupon transactions in North America took place on Mobile compared to 14% 2 years ago. There are 1.5 billion smartphone users worldwide, with a growth of 31% and a penetration rate of 21% expected for year 2013. Samsung and Apple continue to dominate the smartphone segment, and make up 51% of the smartphone market. In terms of countries, China number of users on iOS and Android surpassed US early this year while China's Alibaba surpassed Amazon and e-Bay in terms of gross merchandise volume. The following is the report shared on Slideshare.
