High 4G take up among Singtel's Data Subscribers a Boost for South East Asia LTE market

Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel)'s recent financial report showed that mobile revenue for quarter ending 30th June 2013 increased by 7% to S$506 million while its 4G customers reached 537,000, a relatively high number given the island's smaller population base of less than 5.5 million. Singtel's 4G tiered mobile data plans are subscribed by 31% of its total postpaid customers. According to the report, of these total, 13% exceeded their data bundles, showing an uptrend on data consumption. Singapore, a highly urbanised city state has a large number of foreign workers and professionals working and living in its urban areas and form a concentrated market for a host of mobile services. Singtel has been devising sound strategies to capitalize on the uptrend in the use of OTT applications and leverage on its presence in the digital industry to create more innovative and value adding services for subscribers in its mobile broadband segments.
