Börje Ekholm has officially begun his new role as the President and CEO of Ericsson, following the resignation of previous CEO Hans Vestberg in July.
Börje Ekholm’s appointment was announced two months back to turn around the Swedish telecommunications vendor after the company's share price plummeted by 35 percent last year. Part of his challenges are to make the company profitable and to sign up new major deals.
Jan Frykhammar, who temporarily held the position as President and CEO, remains a member of the Executive Leadership Team and has been appointed as Executive Vice President and Advisor to the CEO.
Borje Ekholm joins Ericsson from his current position as CEO of Patricia Industries, a division within Investor. Prior to assuming this position in 2015, Börje Ekholm held the position as President and CEO of Investor AB between 2005 and 2015. Previous positions also include President of Investor Growth Capital, as well as positions with Novare Kapital AB and McKinsey & Co.
Born in 1963, Börje Ekholm holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, as well as a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD, France.
