Vodafone Germany this week announced the extension of Hannes Ametsreiter as CEO of the company by three years.

Ametsreiter has been CEO of Vodafone Germany since October 2015. He is currently in his second term. With the extension now pronounced, his mandate at Vodafone will run until September 2024.

During Ametsreiter's tenure, Vodafone increased its total sales by EUR 870 million and was able to increase its EBITDA margin from 32% to 42%. The number of SIM cards in the Vodafone network rose by 9.1 million to 50.7 million.

In 2015, Ametsreiter began realigning Vodafone as a gigabit company and the associated vision of a gigabit society, with gigabit-fast networks - both underground and in the air. In 2016, Vodafone was the first to abolish roaming charges in Europe and released the full LTE speed across the network for all of its private customers. The gigabit offensive started in 2017. For this, Ametsreiter had the Vodafone cable network modernized and established the company as a new fiber optic player - for more networks in municipalities and commercial areas.
