Cisco announced a series of strategic commitments in Italy that will total $100 million over the next three years to help the Italian government drive digital transformation in the country and to build a startup ecosystem, among other initiatives.
As part of the program, it has signed an initiative with Italy's Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) to provide training to teachers and students through the Cisco Networking Academy and to expand the program to equip people with the skills with courses focused on industry 4.0 and cybersecurity technologies. Cisco also signed R&D collaboration with Italian universities to accelerate digital transformation in two industries - manufacturing and agrifood business.
Cisco will also be working with Invitalia Ventures, a national venture capital firm to invest in the development of the best national startups and encourage hi-tech innovation in Italy.
