In the quantity stage of the 5G spectrum auction recently conducted by the Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority, TPG Telecom, Singapore’s newest and fully licensed mobile network operator, has been provisionally awarded 2 (two) 5MHz paired lots of spectrum in the 2.1 GHz band for a price of S$31m.

This offers an immediate pathway for TPG Telecom to provide 5G services in Singapore, a significant market development which will lead to more choices for consumers and businesses.

The provisional award of 2.1GHz spectrum rights is complementary to the 800MHz of 5G localised mmWave spectrum rights which TPG holds. In addition, TPG owns 4G spectrum rights in the 900MHz, 2300MHz and 2500MHz bands which have been deployed extensively through Singapore. TPG will continue to innovate and invest in the new infrastructure to fully realize the value of the spectrum rights.

Richard Tan, CEO of TPG Telecom
We are delighted that we were able to secure this important 5G band which is well supported by the global device ecosystem. Our customers can look forward to very competitively priced 5G services as our network is progressively upgraded. We will leverage the latest 5G technologies to bring the best service to our customers.
