Telefónica Tech last week announced that CANCOM UK&I will start operating under the Telefónica Tech UK&I brand after being acquired at the end of July for €398 million.

Telefónica Tech UK&I includes CANCOM UK&I's 600+ professionals offering a strong portfolio of professional and managed services in advanced IT, cyber security and multi-cloud solutions, as well as being accredited as a Microsoft Gold Partner in nine disciplines.

As part of Telefónica Tech's commitment to cloud and security services in this market it has already expanded Security Operations Centre (SOC) as part of an investment to increase its office space at Catalyst Inc (Belfast) by more than 5,000 sq ft in total. The expansion will enable the company to accommodate its growing workforce and deliver its specialist cyber security services to a wider range of customers in the UK and Ireland.

Building on the capabilities of Telefónica Tech's Global SOC, the expanded Belfast operations centre will provide services such as monitoring and analysis of customers’ IT systems to pre-empt and prevent security risks and attacks and will be based in a new purpose-built facility. The investment will also see the recruitment and training of additional cyber security personnel.

Jose Cerdán, CEO of Telefónica Tech
With this move we corroborate Telefónica Tech's growth story and reinforce our capabilities in one of our key markets, the UK&I, with the aim of consolidating our leadership in cloud and digital services in Europe. Telefónica Tech UK&I is now a reality and is emerging as the perfect partner to accompany companies in their secure digital transformation.

Martin Hess, CEO Telefónica Tech UK&I
This significant investment in our SOC including in capital infrastructure, in our technology, and in our people, is to ensure we have an offering that meets the requirements of organisations with complex and sophisticated cyber security needs, such as in the health sector where we have market-leading expertise.
