Accelerating Towards ADN L4 for Business Success in 5.5G Era

During the ADN session at the 2023 Huawei Global Analyst Summit, Steven Zheng, CMO of Huawei's Autonomous Driving Network (ADN), delivered a keynote speech on the theme of "Accelerates towards ADN L4 for Business Success in 5.5G Era" to representatives from prestigious analysts and media organizations. And together with Huawei's partners, he also jointly demonstrated ADN updates in terms of the industry, standards, practices, and effectiveness.

AN: Key to digital intelligent transformation

According to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the global digital economy outperformed GDP growth for four years in a row from 2019 to 2022. Because digital transformation poses higher requirements on networks, many communications service providers (CSPs) have implemented digital strategies to transform their organizations from traditional pipe providers to digital service providers. Autonomous Network (AN) is the key to such transformation.

AN has already transformed from the phase of strategy planning to iterative implementation

In the fourth edition of the AN industry whitepaper, 5 standards development organizations and 54 CSPs made contributions. The AN industry has witnessed tremendous business success. Leading CSPs around the world, including China Mobile, MTN, and AIS, have made significant progress in their AN endeavor and set a strategic goal of achieving L4 by 2025.

ADN is essential to the evolution towards L4 AN in the 5.5G Era

ADN is the solution released by Huawei for the AN industry. The solution aims to deliver a 10 times improvement in O&M efficiency through single-domain autonomy, cross-domain collaboration, and native intelligence in the 5.5G era, thereby facilitating the evolution toward L4 AN. Encompassing eight single-domain autonomous solutions, including IntelligentRAN and IntelligentFAN, and a cross-domain collaboration solution called IntelligentServiceEngine, ADN help customers implement closed-loop management in autonomous domains by leveraging Huawei's advantages in network devices and management and control units. With Huawei's ADN solution, customers can significantly reduce the O&M pressure on upper-layer OSSs and BSSs while also fully unlocking the potentials of their networks.

ADN's four core value propositions help CSPs develop an L4 capabilities

Business value is the key driver of CSPs to implement AN, Huawei ADN proposed four core value propositions to help CSPs build the corresponding solutions and achieve business success:

  1. Network monetization: NaaS capabilities, enabling zero-wait service provisioning
Network as a service (NaaS) frees enterprises from purchasing a full range of devices to build networks. Instead, with CSPs offering NaaS, provisioning private lines is as easy as purchasing home appliances online. By building NaaS capabilities, ADN offers a more flexible network development platform and enables zero-wait service provisioning.
  2. Customer experience improvement: proactive QoE optimization, delivering full-lifecycle ultimate experience
With deep insight into home Wi-Fi experience, O&M personnel can fix issues as soon as they arrive at subscribers' homes, without the need to check suspicious elements one by one. This leads to a quantum leap in customer satisfaction.
ADN facilitates the digital operations of premium broadband, successfully transitioning from "complain-driven resolution" to "proactive QoE detection and assurance."
  3. Employee efficiency improvement: automatic fault management, achieving "0-1-3-5" with high reliability
During fault management scenario, we are aiming to achieve 0 potential risk, 1 fault 1 ticket, fault locating within 3 minutes, and ticket dispatching within 5 minutes, which greatly reduce alarms and working tickets. ADN provides an efficient and stable multi-objective collaboration platform to maximize the fault handling efficiency.
  4. Resource efficiency improvement: energy saving, practicing "0 Bit, 0 Watt" on networks
For energy-saving purposes, each site is provided with a flexible policy at a different time to save energy on-demand.
ADN achieves the optimal network experience and energy efficiency, building a truly energy-saving network.

Steven noted that, Huawei hopes to work with industry partners to deeply integrate digital technologies into real-world applications, create value for various industries, and help CSPs accelerate the evolution toward L4 AN.
