Guavus is a Thales company and pioneer in AI-driven analytics for communications service providers. They specialize in providing cloud-scale 5G telecom analytics products for mobile operators that use advanced AI and streaming analytics to ingest a wide variety of high-velocity telemetry data and then perform context-aware operational and behavioral analytics to generate real-time insights that benefit stakeholders across the MNO organization.

In conjunction with MWC Barcelona 2022 which will be taking place from the 28th of February to the 3rd of March, Tara Neal, Executive Editor of The Fast Mode spoke to Anis Chemli, VP of Sales and Marketing at Guavus on the products the company will be demonstrating at this year's event.

Tara: What do youthink MWC 2022 will be all about? And what are your MWC 2022 plans?

Anis: MWC 2022 takes place this year in a special context post-pandemic where the mobile community ecosystem is eagerly looking forward to re-connecting with each other at one of most influential events of the industry. This event takes place also in a timeframe where many MNOs are planning or have already launched their 5G networks and are undertaking big cloud transformation projects as well as introducing AI and analytics into their day-to-day operations.

I believe the keywords at this year’s event will be around 5G, AI and Cloud. Guavus is happy to be back at the MWC 2022 show and present some of our latest innovations in the area of 5G and AI-driven analytics.  Guavus is unique in that we’re a pure-play telecom analytics provider.  We’ve worked with the world’s largest operators globally for more than 15 years and have applied our expertise to not only helping operators transition from 4G to 5G and beyond, but get them there with open, standards-based solutions that enable multi-vendor interoperability so their business can efficiently scale with the complexity of 5G.

During MWC, we’ll be demonstrating our new:

5G-IQ Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF) product, an essential component that enables 5G MNOs to become fully autonomous, with our5G network slice assurance analytics, which enable new revenue opportunities for MNOs. Ops-IQ Mobile Voice Analytics solution, which helps MNOs improve their customers’ experience.

We’re expecting to have some really interesting discussions around these topics with our customers, prospects and partners at the show.

Tara: How has the pandemic impacted the operational and business landscape of the tech segment you are operating in?

Anis: The pandemic has created new challenges for mobile operators but also new opportunities which AI and analytics can help them take advantage of.  Let me take you through one example which is relevant to where we operate today.  As far as the mobile segment is concerned, we are noticing new mobile user behaviors. Mobile users are now daily completing most of their transactions online.  If their mobile experience degrades, they don’t complain, they just leave for another mobile provider. This challenge and complexity will increase with 5G networks and requires a new level of quality of service to meet their expectations.  Mobile operators are realizing, now more than ever, that they need to leverage AI and analytics in order to get real-time insights and allow their operations teams to better understand and predict customer experience issues and therefore become proactive in saving costs and reducing churn.

This is what our new Ops-IQ Mobile Voice Analytics product is all about.  It  uses AI to go beyond monitoring and reporting network anomalies to delivering visibility and real-time intelligence for prioritizing the mobile voice service customer experience – saving operators time and resources and enabling them to transform to what some call “customer-first” operations.

Tara: What emerging trends/technologies have you observed in your tech segment in recent months?

Anis: I think the most notable observation is that analytics will no longer be an overlay moving forward with the active deployment of 5G. There’s a huge increase in network complexity by standard definition in 5G and its distributed architecture. Therefore, network operations can no longer be managed with the traditional approaches used in previous 3G and 4G generations. Resource scalability and flexibility are of paramount importance and play a big role in delivering a good customer experience.  As a result, the use of AI-based solutions helps analyze network data in real time and get the needed insights to MNOs’ operations teams so they can maintain the best network quality while improving their customers’ experience. This delicate balance requires a lot of experience and understanding of telecom networks, data science and computing scale – which our team has and has continued to build on working with our operator customers worldwide.  We’re laser-focused on helping operators to realize the most business value from 5G.
