In conjunction with MWC Barcelona 2022 which will be taking place from the 28th of February to the 3rd of March, Tara Neal, Executive Editor of The Fast Mode spoke to Brooke Frischemeier, Senior Director of Product Management at Robin on the company's plans and showcases for this year's event.

Tara: What do you think MWC 2022 will be all about? And what are your MWC 2022 plans?

Brooke: For Robin and our customers, it’s all about accelerating the deployment of real-world 5G applications, not just the 5G infrastructure. 5G is here, it’s available - but operators need to be prepared for the mass rollout of services across sectors like energy, agriculture, smart cities, manufacturing, and logistics. The key to this is effective orchestration and automation; that’s how operators will reduce time to deployment and increase revenue now!

At MWC, Robin.io will be demonstrating the technology behind the world’s first live, end-to-end cloud-native 5G deployment. By teaming up with partners to provide a complete end-to-end 5G solution, it’s giving telecom operators a competitive edge to accelerate the delivery of 5G use cases and generate revenue. Attendees are able to experience cloud-native technology demos for themselves at Robin’s booth in Hall2E41.

Tara: How has the pandemic impacted the operational and business landscape of the tech segment you are operating in?

Brooke: COVID has accelerated the need for effective remote solutions. This has led to a massive increase in organisations looking to move business operations to the cloud, as well as increased demand for real-time 5G services that need ultra-low latency to function. Network operators are increasingly leveraging cloud native technology for their 5G rollouts, and as a result experiencing deeper market penetration and an improved user experience.

Tara: What emerging trends/technologies have you observed in your tech segment in recent months?

Brooke: There has been a significantly increasing interest in private 5G and numerous Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) solutions, across many verticals. Processing data at the edge means mobile network operators are empowered to deliver innovative services, by hosting virtual environments close to the functioning applications. This allows data to be stored locally, then analyzed, processed and shared upstream when needed, instead of backhauling all the data to a central site for processing. The subsequent low latency, high bandwidth environment is offering operators significant growth and return on investment opportunities, opening up new markets. The demand for these innovative services is breathing life and urgency into 5G rollouts.

Brooke Frischemeier is the Head of Product Management at Robin. His background is a strong mix of small start-up, large company and systems integrator experience. Prior to joining Robin, Brooke has lead mobility and cloud teams at NetNumber, Cisco and World Wide Technologies.
